Families on the front lines of mining, drilling, and fracking need your help. Support them now!

Since HB40 took away our right to ban fracking at the local level Texans need new ways to protect our homes and families. Now more than ever, Texans need our regulators, the Texas Railroad Commission, to rein in the oil and gas industry and protect our basic rights.

Any agency that brags on permitting oil and gas wells in two days but won’t penalize a leaky well owner after two years, even when that leak caused an explosion that burned an entire family, is beyond reform.

The Railroad Commission doesn’t need a performance review. It needs transformation.

To transform an agency, its mission needs to be rewritten so that everyone — within the agency and without — can clearly understand what it means, and especially what it means about who the agency works for.

Call on the Texas Railroad Commission to change its mission and put our homes and families first.

You will also learn about the upcoming Texas Railroad Commission Sunset Advisory Commission process:

  • Approximately every decade state agencies come up for review. This process is called Sunset and a special Texas Legislative Committee composed of state Senators and House members oversees the process.
  • Recommendations from the review range from dissolving an agency, to name changes, changes to how commissioners/agency heads are selected, changes related to enforcement, operations, fines, oversight responsibilities, etc.

This is your chance to demand the transformational change we need for an effective Railroad Commission that protects all Texans.

The full Sunset Committee hearing will be August 22 in Austin, TX. More information on that meeting to follow.
