The Cautionary Tales from Fracked Communities: Come Join the Road Show

This week begins the Stop the Frack Attack tour stop “Cautionary Tales from Fracked Communities”. The tour’s theme features community folks from around the country who share a common story. For each of them, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) began an investigation in to the gas industry’s contamination of their water supply, only to later see the agency retreat and leaving the people without a clean source of drinking water.

Congress Funds a Government Complete with Mining Policy Riders

If you really want to know the priorities our elected officials have, look how they spend money. Last week, Congress passed the Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Bill to fund the Federal Government through September 30- the end of the fiscal year. Now, appropriators can fund the programs and agencies that help protect our communities and precious resources. A welcome improvement I think, since not too long ago, Congress shutdown the government and raised the specter of a debt default.
